    102001 - Drama Kids International

    Ages 6-13 Vanessa Davis
    Students will have a blast learning all the ingredients that create the art of drama including characters, timing, stretching, communicating, costumes, set-design, movement with music, empathy, improv, and imagination. Instructor Vanessa Davis has been involved in theatre and film since the age of eight. She is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and is a member of SAG-AFTRA and Actors' Equity Association. There will be a parent presentation on the last day of camp. Snacks will be provided. Each participant receives a Drama Kids T-Shirt. Comfortable clothes and personal water bottle recommended.

    Want to turn your art into a business? Get ready for some crafting and business 101 to prepare for your very own items to be sold at Arts in the Park on June 8th! April classes will be split time between work time for your art and instruction on the business side. The May class will be an opportunity to touch base with everyone, answer questions and prepare for the vendor tent at Arts in the Park. Don’t have an idea of what to make, but want to learn? Don’t worry, we’ll have lots of ideas for you! Homework INCLUDED: Be prepared to spend the month off creating and getting ready for Arts in the Park! We will have suggestions for finding supplies if needed.

    Students will learn how to work with clay and how to do proper assemblage on the piece. They will learn about famous artists who work with ceramics and a guest speaker will be in to talk about her work here in Kansas City. The Students will build their piece in class and Miss Heather will take them to her studio to fire them in the kiln. Students may pick up their pieces the next week at the Parks and Recreation Center.

    102011 - From Real Life To The Canvas

    Ages: 8-16 years Mu Extension GK Calahan
    During this week-long art camp participants will create multiple works of art. We will begin by photographing the “real world” around us and then we will learn how to take the photos and transfer them onto a canvas like the old masters did. Each day we will spend time drawing in a sketchbook, introducing some art history, looking at a different artist or style of art, while working on paintings. We will spend a majority of the time together, learning techniques around drawing and painting. Every day we will have a nutrition specialist from the University of Missouri who will teach us about healthy eating and provide an afternoon snack. Please bring a sack lunch.

    During winter break we will hold a three-day mini art camp. We will learn techniques of drawing and painting including composition, shading and more. We will introduce some art history and look at different artisits and styles of art. Each day we will spend time drawing in a sketchbook that students will keep at the end of camp. A nutrition specialist from the University of Missouri will teach us about healthy eating and provide an afternoon snack. Each student will go home with a painting done on canvas. Please bring a sack lunch, and be ready to get creative!
